FFW Future Shock
Season 5 Finale

The FFW logo flashes on the screen as the Future Shock opening theme kicks in. A highlight package of the two remaining finalists is shown as “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz plays. We see Cara’s shining moments in the Capture the Queen match, Mel’s technical savvy on display in the Six Femme Mayhem. And then the final scene is that of the two going nose to nose in the pouring rain as lightning flashes and we open on the show itself.

The next shot is a sky view of FFW headquarters in Los Angeles, California, seemingly from a helicopter. The bright pink logo on the side of the building glows against the L.A. night before we head inside to the familiar state of the art gym inside the building, where we see a ring surrounded on all four sides by tables. Lined up practically side by side on each side, the camera pans the battleground before we head over to the broadcast team, standing by.

Mr. Showtime: Three months ago, the historic fifth season of Future Shock kicked off, and tonight the journey comes to an end! You are watching the season finale, where tonight in a tables match, it’ll be Melanie Avilo going one on one with Cara Stone! We are here at FFW headquarters in L.A., and welcome to the show!

Apollo: It has been a long road and a whole lot of eliminations to get to where we are now, but tonight, this one is for all of the marbles! Cara Stone or Melanie Avilo, one of these two girls has a date with a table and a certain Pick Your Poison bout weeks from now! The one that doesn’t, well, she has a date with Tara Thunder at Cold Blooded for the FFW Evolution title! The stakes do not get any bigger!

Isabella: As someone who has crashed through her fair share of tables, I can tell you straight up that it is a fate you really want to avoid! And as you say, a shot at the Evolution Championship is pretty much the biggest prize in Future Shock history! It’s all down to this!

The camera pans to their right as a velvet pillow sits on a small table with the Future Shock Season Five Championship resting atop it. A pure silver faceplate with the FFW logo atop it with a large 5 emblazoned in royal blue with all the typical engravings. Sitting just in front of it are two nameplates, one with each name on it.

Mr. Showtime: And aside of meeting Tara Thunder at Cold Blooded for the Evolution Championship, one of these girls will go home with the Season Five Championship, a title they can never lose, unless they bring it to an arena where Casey Atherton happens to be present.

Apollo: Let’s not talk about that woman or the fact she’ll probably TRY to get her hands on this title too at some point...please? Seriously, it’s bad enough I get to put up with her husband beginning next year on Velocity.

Isabella: Well... on the bright side, if Casey is booked on Velocity, he can’t interfere and help her win. And if he tries, you can punch him!

Apollo: Oh I’ll do more than just punch him. I’ll put him through the damn announcers’ table if I have to and pay the fine to Samantha in person with a smile on my face.

The camera heads up to the ring as we see both women warming up in their respective corners, and we zoom in on Melanie first, with a graphic showing her stats on screen.

Mr. Showtime: 20 years old, and 5’7! Melanie Avilo weighed in today at 139 lbs! While she hasn’t won any of the wrestling challenges herself, Melanie has been very impressive! As sound of a technical wrestler as there has been in Future Shock, I think this match, just by history, may be hers to lose really!

Isabella: You have a point. Melanie has been very impressive in this season, definitely the workhorse of the group. I’d give her the slight edge as favourite... then again, that’s shown to prove nothing in previous seasons...

Apollo: However, keep in mind that much like Desirae Kain last season, Melanie put the pedal to the metal and kept grinding through, making it week after week and she is definitely deserving of her spot here in the finals. Believe it or not, I guess people do like to see actual wrestlers rather than opportunistic spot monkeys in this specific spot.

The camera switches over to the other corner, highlighting Cara as a graphic pops up with her stats next.

Mr. Showtime: Same height as Mel, a mere two pounds heavier. Cara Stone has a very tenuous experience advantage. Tenuous because she says herself she has rare experience in singles matches throughout her career, having relied on her partner for most of her career. Leo, you mentioned spot monkeys, and Cara is certainly one! She employs the fast paced and high flying tactics, and she’ll look to be fast on her feet tonight against Mel, the technical savant.

Apollo: As a pretty good technical wrestler, not to toot my own horn or anything, if there is one thing that is an absolute pain to deal with is somebody that is quick on their feet and can hit you from places you sometimes can’t even see. Cara Stone has PLENTY of potential to do just that and really, I don’t have a disdain for her high-flying style - unlike most people, she does know a thing or two about finishing matches rather than just playing up to the crowd for that one extra move...plus, she gets bonus points for kicking a chair in a certain someone’s face.

The camera glances back to the broadcast team sitting several feet away from the ring as Showtime hands Leo a microphone as they sit with their headsets on.

Mr. Showtime: Leo, you want to let the girls know the rules before we get underway?

Leander nods, standing up from his chair and gradually taking off his headset with his left hand before taking the microphone on his right hand, looking up at the ring and nodding solemnly at both girls.

Apollo: Ladies! This is, as you may have noticed, a tables match. Many tables are accessible to you across the entire HQ here. There are no count-outs, no disqualifications, obviously no pinfalls or submissions. Your objective is a simple one...to put your opponent through a table. Having your opponent put themselves through a table here isn’t going to cut it - Robbyn Helmsley clause being implemented tonight because we most certainly don’t need another Supes incident going on here. So, with that all said, best of luck to you both and ladies...battle’s on!

The camera returns to the ring as we hear Leo replacing his headset. Referee Melinda Davis asks both girls if they have questions, both shaking their heads as she calls for the bell. Both girls head for the center with Mel offering a handshake, which Cara accepts. The pair shake hands, and as Cara goes to move back, Mel doesn’t let her hand go and jerks her over with an arm drag takedown, sending her to the mat and grinning a bit as Cara looks up to her. Stone gets back to her feet as the pair lock up, with Cara pushing her back to the ropes. Davis calls for a break, as Cara gives her one. Mel circles around, and they lock up a second time with Cara sending Mel for the ride. Stone goes airborne with a leap frog as Mel ducks under and stops behind her. As Cara came back down and turned, Mel caught her with another arm drag takedown, sending her back to the mat again.

Apollo: Quick start to this match already with both girls going at it, the quick arm drag takedowns giving Melanie a bit of an advantage here and this will be a key to victory for Avilo - she needs to keep Cara Stone grounded.

Isabella: Indeed, Cara is quick, and she doesn’t want to let her get motoring. She needs to control the pace of the fight.

Cara gets back to her feet, as the pair begin to circle one another again. They go to lock up again as Cara surprises Mel with a monkey flip as she reaches out for her. She sends Mel head over heels to the mat. And as Avilo tries to get up, Cara doesn’t give her a moment to breath as she takes off and lands a senton back splash onto Avilo’s back, sending her back to the mat. Cara grabbed the ropes, using her feet as a pivot point to launch herself into a 180 degree leg drop off the middle rope, driving her legs back into Mel’s spine. Rolling to her feet, Cara hits the far side, and connects with a baseball slide that sends Mel out of the ring to the floor around ringside.

Apollo: And here’s Cara’s key to victory: keep freaking moving EVERYWHERE! As we’ve just witnessed by that offensive series by her and with Mel on the outside, Cara Stone could very well be heading into the highway to the danger zone!

Isabella: This is what she needs to do, as you say. Motor like there’s no tomorrow! Attack, attack, attack!

With Mel down on the outside and starting to get up, Cara headed for the far side as she seemed to measure Avilo. And as Mel got to her feet, Stone took off and went for a second baseball slide. But Mel grabbed the ring apron as Cara’s feet slid right into it, catching her between the apron and the ring as Mel grabbed her head with both hands and came off her feet, driving her face into Mel’s knees, as Stone bounced back against the mat, still caught!

Mr. Showtime: Cara went to the well once too often, and got caught! Mel nailed a codebreaker there, and Cara had nowhere to go!

Apollo: Huge counter on Avilo’s part and this could very well be where Mel has a chance to start dissecting Cara and maybe set up one of those tables at any point.

Mel glanced behind her to see where the tables were and pulled one closer to where Cara was caught, climbing onto the apron and moving to the far corner. Avilo took off, grabbing Cara’s head and delivering a bulldog style move as Cara’s head cracked against the table before she hung over the apron, obviously stunned. Avilo moved in for the kill, pulling Cara up to the apron now and wrapping her arms around her waist and going for a belly to back suplex! But Cara held onto the ropes with both hands as Mel cocked her hips a second time, trying to throw Cara!

Apollo: Mel is trying to end this already but Cara’s holding on for dear life here, even after that bulldog nearly knocked her lights out!

Isabella: Well she has no choice! That’s gonna be one hell of a bad landing!!!

Mr. Showtime: Cara wanted to fly, but not like this!!

Mel delivered a few headbutts to the back of Cara’s head, causing her hands to loosen their grip on the ropes. And she turned slightly and sent Cara flying with an overhead belly to back suplex! Avilo fell onto the floor as Cara miraculously landed on her feet on the table. It wobbled slightly as Cara landed with catlike grace. Mel hopped onto the apron, seeing what happened and went for a knee strike, but Cara used her momentum and sent her to the floor behind her with a back body drop!

Isabella: Cara was damn lucky that table didn’t break! But hey, that was one hell of a back body drop, and Mel’s spine has to be killing!

Apollo: It’s spine meeting the floor. Floor wins. It’s nothing too complicated, just...science!

Cara took a moment to regain her balance, collecting her wits as she stood up on the table. Looking down to Mel, she started walking down the row of tables since they were lined up end to end. Walking all the way to the corner, she waved for Mel to get back up. But Avilo held her back, with pain etched on her face. Slowly rising to her feet, she turned as Cara ran the tables like great agility and launched herself into a Superman dive that crashed straight into Mel, re-introducing her to the floor with a thud!

Mr. Showtime: Supergirl couldn’t have done it better, and I mean the comic book hero! Cara has Mel in serious serious trouble!

Apollo: Huge dive from Cara Stone after an impressive show of athleticism and if Melanie’s spine wasn’t screaming in pain before, well, it is now!

Cara rose to her feet, pulling Mel up and stretching her out on one of the tables. Delivering a few forearm shots, she moved around and climbed up onto the apron and then thought better of it and headed for the top rope!

Isabella: Oh... here we go! It’s time to finish this! I’m not sure Mel has what it takes to move after this spinal assault

Apollo: Well...two things could happen here. One...Melanie goes through a table. Two...the Robbyn Helmsley clause gets exercised for the first time tonight.

Perched on the top, Cara jumped off the turnbuckle, going for a double leg drop. But Mel rolled off the table to the floor as Cara’s lower body drove through the table straight into the floor as the table nearly imploded!

Mr. Showtime: IT’S LIKE GIVING YOURSELF AN ATOMIC DROP...BUT FROM THE TABLE TO THE FLOOR!!

Apollo: The Helmsley Clause makes its debut and by the Gods, that one had to freaking hurt!!!

Cara’s face was wracked with pain as she lay on the floor in agony, while Mel began to try to shake the cobwebs loose. The referee made it clear that the match wasn’t over as Mel pushed up to her feet and pulled Cara up and threw her back into the ring. Still in some pain herself, Mel knelt at ringside and pulled the apron up and pulled out a table of her own and slid it into the ring behind Cara, whom was holding her tailbone in agony.

Mr. Showtime: Melanie has something in mind here, but Cara’s spine has to be vibrating right now! That was a ten foot drop from the top turnbuckle through the table to the floor!

Isabella: I’d say I know what that feels like... but that’s Helmsley’s territory, not mine! Still, it’s a great chance for Melanie to get this match won... I don’t even know if Cara can walk!

Apollo: Forget just walking, from the looks of it, Cara Stone may not even be able to stand up properly for the next hour!

Mel pulled the legs open on the table, and then propped it on the top turnbuckle as the legs wrapped around the ropes, making it into a platform. Looking back, she grabbed Cara and hoisted her onto the platform and stepped through the ropes to climb up on the outside and then step onto the platform with her. Leaning down, Mel hooked Cara’s head under her arm and measured where she was as she set up for the DDT.

Apollo: Melanie is looking to bring the pain here and this does not bode well for Care Bears everywhere!

As Mel looked about to go for it, Cara began firing shots into her abdomen again and again. Mel drove a few clubbing blows into Cara’s back, but Stone got free. Mel shoved her head between her legs, and hooked her around the waist in a powerbomb position! She brought Cara up, whom as soon as she was on Mel’s shoulders, began to rain fists onto her head again and again! Mel staggered as the table shifted slightly beneath them before Cara turned it into a Frankensteiner and drove Mel off the table top to the mat in a heap!

Isabella: Great maneuver! Back and forth this match goes, and neither woman can get that final blow!

Apollo: Massive Frankensteiner by Cara Stone and really, it just goes to show how badly these two women want that shot at Evolution gold - you heard Cara’s words earlier, she feels she has evolved since day one of his competition and she is looking to prove it here tonight!

Still holding her back, Cara managed to get back to her feet. Her face still showed the immense pain she was feeling. Moving towards her, she pulled Mel’s legs under both arms and fell backwards, catapulting Mel face first into the underside of the table! And as Avilo fell back to the mat, a cut appeared above her right eyebrow.

Mr. Showtime: I’m not surprised to see Mel’s face is busted after it struck the underside of that table that is still propped up on the corner.

Apollo: We have a bleeder! And this offers Cara quite a bit of advantage, for the more Mel bleeds, the weaker she gets...once again...science!

Isabella: What’s with you and science? But you’re right, it saps her life force, not to mention it can get in her eyes, and the smell of your own blood can have a profound psychological effect.

Cara glanced around, rolling out to the floor and pulling a second table from under the ring and sliding it in.

Mr. Showtime: Apparently the fifteen tables around the ring just aren’t enough for these two! Cara is getting a second table, and the last one is still sitting on the top corner over Mel!

Cara opened and set up the table, sliding it into the same corner as the last table. She dragged Mel from under it, dropping to one knee and delivering a few shots to her cut for a moment. And now with one table on the top rope and one lined up on the mat beneath it, Cara looked down to the floor for a moment, shaking her head. A few more shots, she rolled back out and folded up a third and slid it into the ring.

Apollo: Mother of God, how many tables do you need to keep bringing from under the ring? Are the ones already set up not good enough now?!?!

Cara slid back in after that, resetting the table and then setting it on top of the table on the mat so that it was even with the table on the top rope.

Mr. Showtime: I have no idea what Cara has in mind here, but if it requires three tables, it’s going to be immensely painful, to say the least!

Isabella: Kinda insane I would guess! But with the potential to go horribly wrong!

Cara pulled Mel back to her feet, the gash over her eye showing no signs of getting any better. A few forearms into her chest, Cara hoisted Mel onto her shoulders and deposited her on the top table before climbing out of the ring and heading for the top. She didn’t make it far before she had to stop, holding her back as it apparently reminded her of the trauma it had already suffered.

Apollo: Whatever Cara Stone may have planned in mind, she MIGHT just want to second-guess herself - the back did take quite a bit of damage here from pulling a Supes earlier.

Mr. Showtime: No kidding, this has been one of the most punishing tables matches I can remember seeing!

Cara pulled Mel to her knees as she stepped onto the table with her, driving a few shots into her lower back and pulling her to her feet. Cara remained on one table as Mel stood on the other before Stone hoisted her up again onto her shoulders. But her back didn’t respond well as she cried out in pain, having to drop Mel back to her table.

Mr. Showtime: Not sure what Cara was looking for, but her back said no dice!

Isabella: Man, the tension is just crazy here!

Apollo: And you could cut it with a knife! One little slip here and Evolution title dreams will be shattered for one of these women.

Mel fell back to a prone position, and ended up rolling over the edge off the top table. Cara got back to her feet, looking down at the mat but not seeing her there. A confused look on her face was replaced with surprise as the table Mel had been on was shoved off the stack and landed on the mat beside her as Mel had managed to get onto the underneath table! Cara leapt off the table on the top rope, trying to get away from Mel. Once again with catlike agility, Cara landed on the table beside Mel as Avilo was on her feet. The two began exchanging blows, a literal flurry of right hands as they stood on their respective tables!

Apollo: I...holy shit, did that just happen? BOTH these women avoided doom and we have ourselves a good old-fashioned slugfest out of it instead of tables breaking everywhere!

Mr. Showtime: On top of twin tables, these two Future Shock rookies are going toe to toe!

Isabella: This is the damnedest tables match I’ve ever seen! How do they have the energy left to brawl?!

Cara’s shots seemed to be doing more damage as she targeted Mel’s cut, causing the brunette to wither and stagger a bit. Glancing down behind her, Cara had a little smile on her face as she took a leap into the air onto Mel’s table, wrapping her legs around her head for a Frankensteiner! And as she went to go backwards towards the table behind her, Mel’s hands locked behind Cara’s back! And with a leap of her own, Mel left her feet and delivered a sitout powerbomb that put Cara Stone through the table!!

Apollo: POWERBOMB REVERSAL THROUGH THE TABLE AND THIS ONE IS DONE!!!!

The table broke in two as Mel collapsed on the mat beside her, both women laying in the shards of the broken table as Davis called for the bell!

Isabella: WHAT A MATCH! But we have a winner of Future Shock Season Five, and it’s Melanie Avilo!!!

Mr. Showtime: You want to talk about a back and forth nail-biter? This one was all that! It could have gone either way time and time again, but in the end, one bad choice by Cara whom went back to what brought her...the aerial game....and it ended up costing her! How many times have we seen it happen? When you go high-risk, it’s all or nothing! And that’s why they call it risk!

Apollo: However, given Melanie’s blood loss, it was a more calculated risk than most may give it credit. Perhaps it was instinct or fruits of training, but Melanie Avilo did as any technical wrestlers knows how to do it...pull off a last second counter to turn the tables. Well, she did...and then broke the damn thing too!

The camera showed one of the production people attaching Mel’s nameplate to the Future Shock Championship, while the two women began to stir in the ring. Mel raised her head, dragging herself to the ropes and looking back dazed. Cara was slow to sit up as well as Mel offered her a hand, Cara accepted and the two shook for a moment.

Isabella: And a great show of sportsmanship to finish. That’s what we like to see!

The assistant handed the Future Shock Season Five Championship up to the referee, and Davis awarded it to Mel. The champion stared at the title, a smile forming on her face as she saw her reflection in it and then her name, letting her finger travel over the engraving before hugging it to her. Davis offered her a towel, which she used to wipe er brow, which still bled.

Apollo: I know that feeling all too well, having it experienced just a few weeks ago...to see your hard work pay off after so many months, it is a beautiful thing...my sincerest congratulations to the Brazilian native, Scottish resident Melanie Avilo...you earned every bit of this. Just be on the lookout for that crazy redhead claiming to be Adonis’ Canadian wife.

Mr. Showtime: Melanie Avilo has made history as the champion of Season Five! And now she has a little time to recover and prepare, because at Cold Blooded, Tara Thunder will have to defend her Evolution Championship against one of the best technical wrestlers to ever come out of Future Shock! Not to mention one with a lot of heart too!

Isabella: That much is certain. But let’s not forget about Cara Stone, who rocked this competition right to the last! She came so close, did so well, but just fell victim to an amazing counter.

Apollo: Very much so...Cara has a big Pick Your Poison ladder match in her horizon within the next few weeks. She brings as much spirit as she did, forget Future Shock, she could very well have a ticket for a match against the FFW Champion if she so chooses.

Mr. Showtime: Cold Blooded shaping up to the latest in a line of can’t miss FFW Pay Per Views for many reasons really!

The camera goes back to the commentary team, now standing in front of their broadcast booth.

Mr. Showtime: I’m sure we’ll be hearing from the new Future Shock champion at the upcoming Velocity next year! But tonight, Mel’s got a little celebrating to do! Isabella...Leo...this was your first time calling Future Shock! How was it?

Isabella: I really enjoyed it! We saw some great young talent, and some really exciting competitions!

Apollo: It was a learning experience. I absolutely enjoyed every second of it and I am glad I had some really legendary Hall of Fame co-hosts alongside me. I’m gonna kind of miss this, actually...

Mr. Showtime: I can sympathize there, and with that said....hang on...

The camera went back to the ring as Mel’s trainer and fiance made his way towards the ring, sliding under the bottom rope as she wrapped her arms around his neck in an embrace.

Mr. Showtime: There you see Mel’s trainer this season, and as we saw in her video, her future husband, Andy Marx. I have a feeling he may be getting some new business as a trainer after this!

Isabella: Absolutely! Speaking of... how much business did you get after training a Future Shock Champion?

Apollo: I have no clue, Isabella. That is a good question though, Show. How come we haven’t seen any more proteges of yours running around? I mean...Sophie Richards turned out rather well, right?

Mr. Showtime: I don’t have time for training, I got a bus to get back! Besides it’d be hard to top Sophie!

The camera watches as the couple talks to each other as Mel holds her title.

Mr. Showtime: That’s gonna do it for us here at FFW headquarters in Los Angeles! Melanie Avilo is the Season Five Champion! And what a historic season it has been! Season Six kicks off February 2nd as six new rookies look to make their dreams come true! We thank you for joining us, and from everyone here at FFW, we wish you a very happy holiday season! Good night from Los Angeles!

The final image is of the champion with her title as Future Shock’s fifth season comes to an end. And the show fades to black.
