A lightning bolt strikes the screen, leaving the Future Shock logo. But the next image is not the familiar set in Los Angeles, but the empty Future Shock Arena. Rows upon rows of empty seats as a few people are seen down on the stage, working on the lighting. The camera whirls around to find Jake with his guest co-host in the cheap seats.

Jake: Hi there, everyone! It’s the day after Future Shock, and I’m here in the Future Shock Arena. And I have one of my favorite people here with me in the nosebleed section, none other than a woman who will be a big part of the show we’ll be talking about today: Andi Takata!

Indeed, getting up from one of the cheap seats while holding a cup of ice to her face, is Andi Takata.

Andi: Hey Jake! Hi everyone in Medialand! Kind of a different look for this episode, but I suppose that’s better than the different look they had last time. I heard they’re still fumigating the studio in Los Angeles after that last set of hosts, and that’s why we’re here.

Jake: That’s fine with me. Plus hopefully PG&E won’t extend their blackout to Los Angeles, so we know we have power here in Boston! That’s always a plus. I’m glad to see you though, ice pack or not. Preferably without.

Andi: I’d rather be without it too, but unfortunately the Gold Standard is much like a rolling blackout. Mostly unnecessary and definitely not wanted by anyone in the state. I can’t wait to hear the spin on how this is the equivalent to what I’ve done, even though I did the right thing and stayed out of Stacey vs Mars completely. I made my point afterwards, I didn’t take away from anyone’s match. Now I’ve gotta hear from Jacqui Minogue how she’s got a win over me because Stacey’s too stubborn to wait 5 more seconds. Greeeeeeeat.

Andi throws the cup off to the side.

Jake: Well that’s about as good of a segue into the show as I could have found. So let’s dive in then. It was supposed to be the in-ring return to Future Shock of Andi here, who was having quite the fight with Jacqui. And it looked very much like she was about to secure the three, but avoided an attack by Stacey that landed on Jacqui, thus earning her the DQ win. And that was followed by a multitude of superkicks from Stacey to a tied-up Andi. I doubt even Jacqui was too thrilled with that ending, but that remains to be seen.

Andi: Yeah, I don’t think Jacqui thought leaving her to eat that stomp was too cool. Luckily, I don’t really care how she feels about that. Wrong place, wrong time. But it just goes to show what kind of a person Stacey Sky really is. It’s always something else to give her some kind of one-up on me, and even then, half the time, it’s not enough. But that’s alright, I’ll take care of her soon. There won’t be anything tied up, no platforms…. It’s just a bit annoying that I gave this bitch all the water she wanted in the pool joust and she’s still thirsty for more. Time to drink up!

Jake: We’ll be talking about that match shortly. Also on the show, your pal, Mars Whimsy, had a crack at the new Nova Champion. She gave Katie plenty of trouble in that match, but the Nova Champion proved why she is the Nova Champion. Katie’s now evened the series with Mars, now tied at 1-1 between them. What do you think of the match?

Andi: I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly disappointed with the result, being as close as I am with Mars, but she gave her best effort, and so did Katie, and unfortunately for Mars, she got outdid. And that kick of Katie’s is so money. So, so money. That’s why it’s ‘The One’, I guess. I’m looking forward to seeing it a third time though. I’m sure that will happen eventually, so if I were Mars, I would be getting ready for the next time. Good display by both women though, we need more of that.

Jake: I wouldn’t be surprised if Mars did get another round, but Katie’s dance card is already filling up. We’ll be getting to her match too in a bit. Finally, history was made here last night as the year plus reign of the Gold Standard ruling the Future Shock tag division has come to an end. The Raging Dragons captured the tag titles, and I’ll go ahead and congratulate Su and Jenny on their achievement!

Andi: Congratulations are in order. Thank yous, are in order. If there was a great silver lining to the cloud of nonsense.it was the Gold Standard now being downgraded to just…. Standard. Back to basics for the basics. And any time you can take a pair of titles from a team that’s had them as long as Lacey and Valerie had them, it’s a really, really, really good feeling. Do we have some footage of when we beat the One Woman Show? Can we throw some of that in and then show the Raging Dragons winning and then make that a video package? Because it’s that kind of awesome.

Jake: Or you can relive both moments in their entirety on FFW All Access. That’s even better! But you’re right, they were on similar levels. And I hope Jenny’s ankle heals up sooner than later, because it took a lot of damage last night during the match. What do you think of our new “Magical Girl” Jamie Winters, who has been performing the last couple shows?

Andi: It’s a different kind of Magical Girl than I’m used to, but she’s...doing the magic! The people seem to dig it, and I find it quite enjoyable… I’m not sure about having things like chainsaws just hanging out backstage though. YOu’ve seen some of the wild violence that’s been going on around here lately, it can’t be a good idea, or someone might get actually cut in half! And Jamie’s going to FLY? That’s something I need to be tuned in for.

Jake: You should probably be there in person and all since you’re booked. She’s been doing shows on the west coast for a little while now. I go to Vegas from time to time, and I remember her doing some shows at some of the casinos I visited. I don’t remember her flying in any of them, but that’s what the big events are for, right? And so she doesn’t feel ignored, any thoughts on what we heard from Sydney Christensen? That was a rough segue.

Andi: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and I kinda understand her frustrations. I don’t know if she’s really venting them properly, but that seems to be a problem for anyone in front of her right now. I can’t really judge her for wanting to make some changes, given my own situation. Sometimes all it takes is just a nudge to get those changes going though, and it’s clear Sydney’s been sufficiently nudged right off the cliff.

Jake: Well that brings us to the show we’ve been leading up to for weeks now. I’m talking about Future Shock Nemesis, live only on FFW All Access from the uh… country of Quebec, if you were to ask certain French-Canadians. Andi here has been busy recently on the media loop with the FFW Champion promoting the show all over Montreal. How’s that been?

Andi: It’s been fun! I love Canada. I love Quebec. I love Smoke’s Poutine. But there’s not a Dunkin anywhere in sight, so I have to bring my own coffee up there across the border, and when you’re doing a run of media interviews, coffee is of the utmost importance! And of course, I have to go and undo the damage that’s being done by letting Shaugnessy O’Neal speak to these people at all. Quebec hasn’t heard somebody this delusional in a position of power since Pauline Marois! And of course, when I have such a  great product to bring to the people of Montreal, it is well received, and I expect Nemesis to be on of the best shows in the history of Quebec!

Jake: That won’t be a high watermark, but let’s tell’em what they can expect to see. No sooner do the Dragons win the Future Shock Tag Titles, we’ll see a #1 contender match for the next challengers. You got to meet Jacqui firsthand, but it’ll be the Doomsday Sisters of the Matriarchy facing the Laurie Jane Experience, who are… an interesting tag team. Who do you like here?

Andi: In the interest of transparency, I’ll just say it. I’m not a fan of the Doomsday Sisters… Matriachy… Femdumb…. Whatever they are, they’re not it, chief. They just remind me of every other group who thinks they’re hot shit around here, and really haven’t done enough to get that respect. Now, I can get having some ego, but maybe pull it back until you get something done. This is an opportunity for them to do just that against the Laurie Jane Experience which is…. A hell of an experience. A strange experience, but it’s an experience! The Doomsday Sisters could really use this to level up, but I… I can’t go against the L-J-A at this point. Part biased opinion, part I’m not sure what to make of it all.

Jake: Well the Dragons will certainly be watching closely, like the rest of us. We’ll see 3 championship matches that night as well. Let’s start with the aforementioned Nova Championship match! Katie Hanley has her first defense against Sydney Christensen, who has a chip on her shoulder and also would rather this show be in Calgary. The only one of those two things she can change at Nemesis is becoming the new Nova Champion, and just hope the people of Calgary are watching.

Andi: I have nothing against Calgary, we’ll get there eventually! Maybe. I don’t know, maybe the people of Calgary should buy some more subscriptions to FFW All-Access to watch this match and show some support so the people in charge think to book the Saddledome. And who knows, maybe Sydney taking the Nova Championship away from Katie Hanley would influence that decision too. How bad do you really want that show in Calgary, Sydney? She’s got all the reasons, and Katie’s got all of the momentum, and we’ve got something brewing here that’s gonna be something to watch, Katie’s shown she can handle quite a bit, and Sydney’s gonna throw it all at her to try and take the title.

Jake: No kidding, I’m looking forward to it too. Also on the show is a rematch. In their last meeting, the Gold Standard’s Cait Flanagan knocked off Cassie Mason in her Future Shock debut. She also took a few liberties after the match as well, prompting Cassie to want a rematch. Now she’s got it in Montreal when she looks to be the life of the party by leaving Cait in the dust. You think it’s more pressure, Andi, when it’s your first big event with a promotion like this? You think Cassie’s gonna be nervous or feel overwhelmed?

Andi: I’d hope so. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, but those butterflies are there because you care, you know? If you’re not nervous before a big match on a big show where you’ve got something to prove, then you probably are in the wrong business. Luckily, I think Cassie can handle that pressure. Now, whether or not she can rise above the nonsense that comes with someone like Cait Flanagan having the circus around her, that has yet to be seen, but Cassie Mason at least knows it’s coming this time, and has a better idea of what to expect when she comes for her vengeance against these clowns.

Jake: Time will tell. Another championship match will be for the Aspire title! Gemma Pierce is looking for five wins, and already has one in the bank as she wants to be the first to make the main roster. But her second defense is against a Pixie…. A Li’l Pixie Pump no less, Nora Harris! This is Nora’s first title match in Future Shock, and I suspect she’ll leave it all on the mat and then some. What do you think here, Andi? Gemma retains or runs into Future Shock’s toughest Pixie?

Andi: You know how sometimes we say how we’re pulling for the Giant Meteor to win? If I was the Giant Meteor, I would avoid this match, lest it gets punched into a whole other flight path. This is going to be a battle, a real hard battle, and with real high stakes. I look at Gemma and Nora, and all I can think of is how I’m glad I’m not a 3rd person in that match. As far as picking a winner? ….Viewers. Viewers will be the winner, and so will one of the competitors, although I don’t think either one of them is going to feel like one when this is over.

Jake: I don’t envy either one of them. Two of Gemma’s last opponents really seemed to tax and push her farther than she’s used to, and I don’t think Nora will be any different. This is also one of my favorite matches on the card. But let’s get to the one you’re itching to have with “Sensational” Stacey Sky. This thing goes all the way back to Wipeout, a pool party and what we talked about already. You finally get the high flyer of the Gold Standard all to yourself in Montreal.

Andi: It’s been a long time coming, and I’m sorry that we’ve had to wait. But the time is near now, and I finally get Stacey where I want her. In a match, in the ring. No before the bell, after the bell, no. You get in between those ropes and we go start to finish, and your scumbag manager can sit on the outside and watch as I take his favorite cheerleader and make her cry. I’ve been PATIENT about this. Stacey didn’t like that my sending a message overwrote hers? She’s going to HATE when i overwrite her whole reality and replace it with a Space Crusher, and the people of Montreal are going to love it when I do.

Jake: And finally, there’s the main event! Cassandra Steen became the Future Shock Champion in Sydney when she pinned the then-undefeated Tara Cortez for the title. Now she faces the one woman in that match she didn’t pin or submit: Vivi Robichaud. Vivi’s been hellbent on getting that title practically all year, and I have a feeling it’ll take a lot more than Cassandra or Dante thinks to stop her from achieving it. Also recently added to this match is the stipulation that says for the first time ever, the title CAN change hands on a count out or a disqualification.

Andi: Vivi is hellbent on a lot of things, but this one thing is one that really seems to stick to the roof of her mouth like peanut butter. The problem is, she has to deal with one of the more dangerous people we’ve had as Future Shock champion, and even with that stipulation, you just know that the Canadian that not even other Canadians want to claim, has ways to have a presence, and that’s going to sit in the back of Vivi’s mind. But she really  is going to have to be on her game to take the title away from Cassandra. She’s already shown what she’s willing to do to get to it, to get it, and now we’re going to see what she’s going to try and do to keep it. If I was Vivi, I’d tread carefully, but not lightly.

Jake: What a great way it’d be for her to cap off the year in Future Shock if she can knock off the champion, and end her singles undefeated streak at the same time. I’m positive Montreal will be behind her, especially being from the French quarter as she is. Andi, besides your own, what’s your pick for what will be the Match of the Night?

Andi: I wouldn’t have even put my match up for that, because I expect that to be a swift ass-kicking for Sky and a win for me. So I think I’d lean with the match even the Meteor should fly away from. Gemma versus Nora, and whoever survives that wins. It’ll steal the show, I think.

Jake: We also can’t forget that our new Prospect, Jamie Winters, looks to perform her biggest stunt of all when she promises she’ll fly at Nemesis. As someone who always makes a point to see Penn & Teller at the Rio whenever i”m in Vegas, I love a good magic show. And Jamie seems like she’s cut from the same cloth.

Andi: They gave us Celine Dion, this is the least we could do is give Montreal back a Vegas-quality act. Flying… I mean I can’t even do that and I’m a magical girl AND space princess. So this should be impressive! I’m not sure how to top this though? Bengal tigers maybe?

Jake: We’ll have to ask Rose’s boyfriend. He seems to be the guinea pig since every act till now involves him being mauled by blades. So…. there could be something bigger in the works! Just not sure what. Fans, it all happens October 22nd in Montreal at the Bell Centre as Future Shock lands in the Great White North. If you don’t have FFW All Access, you can’t watch it. So the easy way to fix that is..get All Access. Along with this show, you get EVERY FFW and Future Shock show since the promotion began in June of 2010! That’s a helluva lot for $9.99, I say.

Andi: That’s a hell of a lot for $14 Canadian too. You can get a watered down Tim Hortons and a stale donut for that much, or you can get all of FFW ever. I think we know what the better deal is here, and it doesn’t matter if you’re in Quebec, Calgary or Los Angeles. Or beyond!

Jake: The point is if you don’t have it yet, no time like the present! October 22nd is the night Future Shock returns to Canada for what is going to be a massive show. I want to thank my fantastic guest, Andi Takata, for joining me today! And we’ll both be seeing you in Montreal for Future Shock Nemesis.

The show cuts to a commercial for the show, quickly previewing each of the matches to music before it fades to black.
